The KEI to race

When we all think in race cars, probably everything that came to our minds are Civic, Silvia’s, Skyline, Supras… or in the case you are an Euro fan, the real popular Clio Sport and specially for European followers.

supradopeness

But Japan has a really open mind when talking about races, and they do races whatever that has 2 or 4 wheels, and I am probably thinking that even more wheels are allowed when talking about racing in Japan.

For me, one of the most interesting races are the Kei Truck Championship, these consist in all kind of Kei Truck’s, open or closed all around Japan. As always some basic modifications for widely open fun. Always is the same recipe, good suspensions, good wheels and probably some exhaust and intake modifications and drive.

These Kei Truck are daily driven so they keep license plates. Street legal tires and most of them of course Air Conditioning and power windows.

Now sit down and enjoy races.

Lubross Oil and GT Produce are supporting this race series and if you would like to find more info have yourself a website check. Note that these website are in Japanese but you can always use Google translate to view them.

Low Weight Speedstar ~

Hi readers, how is going?

A couple of weekends ago we went to Valencia to cover two events, one was the Massanassa Tuning Expo and the other one, way more important, was the Nissan GT-R/Fairlady Z National Meeting, organised by NissanRC.

DSC_0215

We had lots of fun, and very very cool cars, I had the opportunity to ”test” an Skyline and a Supra, both were amazing, simply amazing.

This post is about that Skyline, owned by Emilio, a guy from Canary Islands and currently living in Sevilla. Coming to Valencia is such an adventure with that car.

Basics of tuning, style and drifting

Hi readers.

Yesterday while talking to my mate about drifting and the style of some of the cars I though it would be a nice idea to write a post about it, so I am doing it.

I am gonna focus on the !street style! or the low-budget drifting, in Spain people tend to use BMW for drifting ”because japanese cars are quite expensive” In fact they are due to the drifting trend, but obviously it is not the same drifting in a BMW than a Skyline 32, or Silvia’s.

The Street Style is quite different to the cars you can see in D1 Grand Prix or the Formula D, drivers focus more in the mechanics but some of them give a nice touch to the exterior of the cars. If you are a big fan of Drift Tengoku you will see lots of these cars.

The Civic will always be one of the most popular for tuners all around the world, we keep finding them in any meeting wherever you go. Specially in Japan that is the home town of the japanese cars culture. But also lately many cars are tuned into the USDM version. USDM is reaching its maximum level lately here in Japan, but don’t worry the is still thousands of pure JDM cars.

_MG_2282 copia

But really the have normally the inspiration from the Hawaii car tuning scene. Corner lights, roof racks, rear sticker, inner stickers, so long rear mirrors and license plate holders are must.

_MG_2260 copia

_MG_2269 copia

Then low the car to the ground and put some crazy camber, people at meetings cannot stop watching Mi Chan car’s.

_MG_2264 copia

The four door version of the Civic is probably the most reasonable priced in Japan, specially for normal version and automatics. Three doors version are quite expensive so maybe that is why so many tuners decide to go for the four door versions, and also if you kids is your best choice.

Player’s Night. Meeting.

Last Saturday we have such a great night. I attended my first meeting in the city. It wasn’t easy to find the place but finally we manage thanks to Shota. I couple of calls solve my problem. There were a bunch of well done car as Japan used to be. Maybe due to some other meeting celebrated in Osaka this one was that big. But people of Kyoto is so friendly and the have so good taste for cars.

_MG_2803 copia

That time when the JDM was a must is now like the old days, the Hawaii USDM style is on its maximum explosion and super fitting wheels are all around.

_MG_2776 copia

A was looking that DC2 for longtime, so clean and simple, specially being yellow.

_MG_2781 copia

Of course the JDM is not forgotten in Japan, for classic cars like this Hakosuka is the best way to suit your car. Watanabes are best choice for this cars.

_MG_2780 copia

I was surprised to found at 3 Hakosuka’s in the meeting, normally you don’t use to find them in the street, but owners know when to enjoy the cars.

_MG_2788 copia

Lots of Civic’s. Civic is still one of the most popular cars in the country despite the prices they are reaching. Specially for the SIR versions.

This Spoon livered Civic takes most of the people attention, maybe because the livery but I think it remembers to the Gran Turismo a lot. Probably one of my favorites in the meeting.

I just wish you could hear that kenmeri, both idling and running, probably one of the best kenmeri’s in the area.

This EK9 was on the way to being transformed into a USDM version of the Civic, still some work to do but he almost has it.

USDM is all over the Kansai area and Civic’s are best choice to turn your daily into a nice car. Tow hook’s, american plate holders and rear window stickers are a must lately.

_MG_2800 copia

Now I just can wait until next month for the next meeting to see how’s up for having a good time. Enjoying with your friends and family no matter what time is it.

カーランド AE86 Special Shop

When I was told about a workshop specialized in only AE86 I was a little surprised. But the it just took me about 10 minutes to find some information in internet to know where to go. Carland is not to far from home, maybe just about 10 kilometers so I decided to have a walk.

_MG_1686 copia

When I finally arrived there this photo was the first I see with my eyes, so astonished. You don’t just to see so many AE86 all them together. Don’t even imagine that even here in Japan these old Corolla’s and Trueno’s are all around the streets. Old cars are very difficult to spot in the cities.

_MG_1685 copia

Most of the AE86 in the shop are dressed as usual, panda style body paint and Watanabe’s. Those cars have special buyers, they aren’t cheap, but they are clean and restored until the last corner. So you can imagine that any boy looking for a project is not looking for that kind of AE86.

Reaching almost the 3 millions of Yen this Red Sprinter Trueno had only 15.000km in its clock. Probably very difficult to find another Sprinter with such a low mileage at any place.

This levin was probably my favorite. Volk TE37’s and coupe version.

They were shooting some cars for some advertising and as cars are ready to be sold.  So I had the opportunity to heard them running.

_MG_1715 copia

_MG_1695 copia

The workshop is so small, but the level of experience and the attention to the detail in this AE86 specialist is so high.

IMG_1745 copia

This corner is like the waiting room. Some cars still waiting for a new life, new paint and of course a super update to be able to use it as daily driven everyday if you want.

_MG_1711 copia

As said before the panda style body paint and the Watanabe’s are the common. I am sure many Initial D fans around their 30’s are so glad driving them.

_MG_1713 copia

That special Home Van make me laugh, this shop is in love with the AE86 that anything related to the Levin is welcome here.

TM-Racing ~ Spanish Honda Specialist

Yo readers! I hope you are doing it well!

First of all, I would like to say that what you will see cannot be compared to what you use to see in this page or the others. The level of tuning in Spain when talking about good tuning its not the same as in Europe, USA or Japan. But some dudes are pushing hard and we want to help as much as possible.

Last March we went to TMRacing. But what is TMRacing? TMRacing is a Workshop/Garage, specialized in Honda Civic and owned by a group of friends and enthusiasts for the Civic. This remind me a lot of CarCraftBoon in the spanish way.

HAS_9176

The outside of the garage looked fine as you see in the picture. We were so impatient and we went in, also because it was cold and rained during the whole day.

HAS_9180

HAS_9193

TMRacing also does some welding works and they are preparing an EF Turbo, it looked pretty good.

HAS_9187

The EF mounts a D16A9 with 240bhp. This is a good number of great horsepower and if you mix it with a good suspension setup you can go very very fast at any track.

HAS_9186

HAS_9189

I hope we will see it soon at any track racing as hard as possible!

Nothing much more to say.. I think that is all, in the Facebook page you will find the rest of the pictures.

Thank you for reading!
