Probably not. In today’s post I will try to summarize Osaka in less than twenty photos. To do this I have avoided some of the most typical places such as Osaka Castle, and perhaps I pay little more attention to other details that you can also find if you visit the city and spend your time walking freely without any determined destination. Another possibility is to fall asleep, you and your pet and wait for better moment.
But I think is much more advisable to go out to explore the city. Walking, you never miss any detail, no rush, no route and no time to lose. Obviously young people of the area uses domestic scooters to move freely with flashy neon lights and cheap helmets. Yes, with loud music to go with some company anywhere.
Osaka has a very different flavour than you can find in Tokyo. Not only by the design of the city, also evidenced by its own inhabitants. With different attitudes, trends and lifestyles. Osaka didn’t transmits such speed that Tokyo shows to foreign. Osaka is much slower, and does not breathes the modernity and spontaneity of Tokyo.
Maybe a couple of years later the guy in the previous picture end up with a much more powerful Scooter style Burgman 400 or Majesty. With the time maybe that guys end at Gotty workshop to customize it. A striking color, along with a longer chassis and aerodynamic and acoustic modifications can never fail to get around Osaka nightlife. If you have any more interest in this topic I can get some more scooters photo going there again and take some more pics. I also think that I can recover some more taken a few months ago. It’s pretty spectacular find that bikes such nearby, and also they have great popularity in big cities like Osaka and Tokyo.
Osaka as in the whole Kansai region has a lot of activity in all the scenes you may come to mind, from VIP Cars, Drift Cars, Boso Cars, etc … This is the most common that you can find without a doubt.
Of course, it is striking to find a shop like this in Osaka. All European car specialist, Alfa Romeos and classic in general. I remain quite impressed with the appearance of the shop, all very thorough, neat and clean. Surely just Japanese style.
One of the culinary specialties of the region and especially Kansai Osaka is the Takoyaki (たこ焼き), Takoyaki is a ball-shaped Japanese snack made of a wheat flour-based batter and cooked in a special takoyaki pan. It is Typically Filled With minced or diced octopus, tempura scraps, pickled ginger, and green onion. Please never forget to try this delicious octopus. Without a doubt one of the best dishes to taste. Any time is a good time to take a bag with Takoyaki in hand has way somewhere.
As you have seen in some movies, TV series or manga series, a system widely used to choose the meal is through these screens. It is quite practical because when you give the order the waiter does not have to be waiting for you to take some stupid decision that dish you order. Also I have to add to the machine easier to visualize that you are going to eat and not have to spend an hour figuring out a letter. Simply select that you want to eat, insert the amount and pick up your ticket order. Now just have to deliver the ticket and sit and wait. In just 5 seconds a friendly employee to approach you and offer you fresh water and soon your plate is already on the table waiting to be worn. This is nothing more than a kind of Japanese-Fast-Food with local food and very economical for exceptionally fast service.
Shinsaibashi (心 斎 桥) is a district in the Chūō-ku ward and is the main city shopping area. There is always people walking across. At every time. City is non stop. How interesting was finding a store Hello Kitty. They had accessories for your car quite striking.
Some other random photos of Osaka-shi.
The Umeda Sky Building (梅田スカイビル) one of the city’s most recognizable landmarks. It consists of two 40-story towers that connect at their two uppermost stories, with bridges and an escalator crossing the wide atrium-like space in the center. Is a very remarkable experience to cross one side to other throughout this blue escalators.
But when these very top of the building, 173 meters high, completely outside, without any glass or fence that disrupts the cold wind, or distort your view everything looks amazing. It is a huge stage and incomparable. The quiet of the night to 173 meters compared to the hustle that still keeps the city at 11 pm.
Just something anecdotic, Mazda has an office in the Umeda Sky Building Tower East and uses floor plant as small showroom. Nothing special just a couple of Demio’s.
I do not remember why I decided to go to the more extreme point of the metro line which reaches the bay. Well I guess to find some beautiful postcards to keep in my memories but the proof is that photo here. When you could take this picture, I think the journey alone was worth all. Another example of why getting there was no doubt, find the outskirts of the city, completely empty of peolple or cars. Asleep, no movement or sound at all disturbing local neighbours.
Too late for dinner anywhere outside home. But there is always a convenience store with something quick for dinner. Whether is already hot or prepared to heat in the microwaves. Well I prefer to go dinner some small place and get some hot ramen…but at least you can get something cheap to finish the journey.
