Nikko, Tochigi

Nikkō (literally “sunlight” or “sunshine”) is a city in the mountains of Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. Approximately 140 km north of Tokyo and 35 km west of Utsunomiya, the capital of Tochigi Prefecture, it is a popular destination for Japanese and international tourists. Attractions include the mausoleum of shogun Tokugawa Ieyasu (Nikkō Tōshō-gū) and that of his grandson Iemitsu (Iemitsu-byō Taiyū-in), and the Futarasan Shrine, which dates to the year 767. There are also many famous hot springs (onsen) in the area.

As of March 1, 2012, the city has an estimated population of 90,071, with 36,134. *Wikipedia

One of the most beautiful place to visit at Nikkō is the Nikkō Tōshō-gū. Is a Shinto shrine located in Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan.

Tōshō-gū is dedicated to Tokugawa Ieyasu, the founder of the Tokugawa shogunate. Initially built in 1617, during the Edo period, while Ieyasu’s son Hidetada was shogun, it was enlarged during the time of the third shogun, Iemitsu. Ieyasu is enshrined here, and his remains are entombed here.

While visiting Nikkō we do not have to forget to spend some time around the Iemitsu-byō Taiyū-in and Futarasan Shrine.

Futarasan Shrine or Futarasan jinja, also known as Nikkō Futarasan Shrine, is a Shinto shrine in the city of Nikkō, Tochigi Prefecture, Japan. To distinguish it from the shrine in nearby Utsunomiya. It enshrines three deities: Ōkuninushi, Tagorihime, and Ajisukitakahikone.

Futarasan is located between Nikkō Tōshō-gū and the Taiyū-in Mausoleum. Many visitors go to all three, as well as to Rinnō-ji.

But what it really matters for us is one main reason. Nikko Circuit. As you guess Nikko Circuit is located in Togichi prefacture.

Here is the Nikko Circuit track. So with a quick view we see is an easy level track that make it very fun. Both cars and bikes use it for trackday, drifting events and amateur races.

Here it is a typical japanese photo with a pure japanese circuit and some pure japanese cars. Well known by local drifters Nikko circuit isn’t as popular as Ebisu for people and maybe only if you are a really japanese-car-enthusiast would heard about it.

You can use youtube to find some cool amateur videos of japanese guys drifting the Nikko Circuit but isn’t easy most of the time because as japanese do they write japanese and often they just tag on japanese.

It was a live cam at Nikko Circuit before but is out of order now. Anyway I want lo let the link here if anytime they put it back on work. WebCAM
